Fownhope Community Saturdays
Fownhope Community Saturdays
On the fourth Saturday in January, March, June and September we will be at the Pavilion between 2pm and 4pm for our Fownhope Community Saturday events. Each event will have its own theme:
28th January 2023: all about FOOD (with speakers from Herefordshire Council’s Health and Wellbeing Team; The Living Room and Hereford Community Larder; and Kids Kitchen)
25th March 2023: all about GARDENS AND HABITAT (we’ll be sharing information about growing for your table, growing for wildlife, supporting habitats in your own back garden, composting, wild flowers and more)
24th June 2023: all about RECYCLING AND UPCYCLING (we’ll be promoting our local repair cafes, looking at fast fashion and swapping our smalls with a clothes swap and jumble sale)
23rd September 2023: all about Warmth and Winterproofing (and making sure there’s time to implement actions before the onset of winter)
Each event will feature a number of ‘Guests at our Table’ - experts on a particular aspect of the theme who will be happy to share their knowledge and offer advice. If you are local to Fownhope and have a particular expertise or depth of knowledge for any of our themes, we’d love to hear from you.
The events are open to all; they are free and include a free prize draw which is drawn towards the end of the event. We have a short 5 minute talk at 3pm; delicious homemade cakes with tea and coffee (for which donations are appreciated but not essential); and children’s activities related to the theme.
Each event will also provide an opportunity to bring along those hard to recycle items such as batteries, printer ink cartridges or lightbulbs; and our ‘SWAP YOUR SPARES’, an opportunity to donate items you no longer need for others to take home.
So, please save the dates in your diary and share a couple of hours with us every other month.
Do get in touch if you would like any further information.
