Fownhope Flag Association AGM
The Fownhope Flag Association is the group responsible for producing The Flag magazine, and for maintaining the Fownhope Calendar. Please come along and support the Association in its Annual General Meeting.
The Flag is Fownhope’s monthly magazine, delivered free of charge to every household in the village and always packed with topical news and interesting information.
It was the original brainchild of Ann Corby who, supported by her husband Tony, produced the first issue in 1996. An immediate success, the magazine went on from strength to strength through the subsequent years. Ann’s team produced eleven issues every year – there’s no January issue – until she stood down as editor in 2016 and Mike Simmons took her place.
The future of the Flag is overseen by the Flag Committee, a small group which is tasked with assuring that the magazine is regularly published and that its future is secure.
The Flag is funded by advertising and is not for profit. If there is any surplus, the committee awards grants to local groups and individuals who have an idea or project that they wish to develop and which would be of benefit to the community.
