The film follows the true story of Greville Wynne, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, an unassuming businessman recruited by the Secret Intelligence Service to deliver messages in the 1960s. Wynne develops a dangerous partnership with Oleg Penkovsky, with the pair coming together to provide intelligence to prevent nuclear intervention during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
