Dark Skies survey

As part of a county wide initiative measuring the quality of our night skies, we’ll be walking around the village taking readings with sky quality meters to measure light pollution.

Our readings need to be taken on a clear night four days before or after the new moon on the 8th April, so our survey window is between 3rd and 13th April. 9th April is looking like the only evening with no cloud cover.

Once the readings are taken, they will be transcribed onto a map to give a visual representation of lighter and darker areas.

We’ll need to carry out the readings over a number of months to build up an adequate picture. So if you’d like to be involved in future surveys, please get in touch.
