This website is run by Fownhope Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2AA standard. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • the text may not reflow in a single column when you change the size of the browser window
  • you may not be able to modify the line height or spacing of text
  • most PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • the small number of videos do not have a transcript
  • Calendar: The main calendar page contains two ARIA widget has an incorrect owned element errors and one table headers are missing associated cells error generated by the calendar software over which we have no control.
  • List of events: Several pages display a list of events. These pages contain a 1px x 1px element with insufficient contrast, generated by the calendar software over which we have no control.
  • Book the Hall: the Hall booking calendar has many errors, but this content is provided by Fownhope New Memorial Hall over which we have no control.
  • Book the Pavilion: one error in the embedded Google Calendar provided by the FRFA over which we have no control
  • Posts: On several pages, a list of blog posts is displayed in summary. Each summary post in the list has an aria-hidden error. When the post is opened, it is error free.
