Help bring Fownhope’s oral histories back into the light

We’re looking for TWO friendly volunteers to help unlock a treasure trove of local stories.

Back in the early 2000s, 86 Fownhope residents were interviewed about village life — farming, feasts, floods, family, the pub, the church and more. These amazing recordings deserve to be heard again.

We want to share them online, on social media, and in The Flag — one story a month for the next 8 years. But first, we need renewed consent from the interviewees or their families.

That’s where you come in.

It’s a perfect role for someone new to the village — a chance to get to know people, make a few calls, send a few emails, maybe even knock on a door or two. You’ll be part of a team helping bring these stories back into the light.

Time needed: Just a few hours here and there to suit you — we have 80 consents left to collect, but plenty of time to do it.
