Variable ceiling is electrified

In 2017, the decision was made to replace the chain hoists with electric hoists controlled by an electronic microcontroller.

The electrics and microcomputer control system were designed by retired local electronics engineer, Ian Quayle.  After a lot of development work and trials, with generous funding from the National Lottery, the eight electric hoists and their individual controllers were installed in 2019 by a team of six volunteers from the village.
