DESCRIPTION:Balfour Beatty have now confirmed that the £175\,000 traffic calming scheme for Fownhope has been scheduled for February. \nFrom Monday 12th to Sunday 18th February\, the road will be closed between 8am and 5pm each day and from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st February\, the road will be closed between 9:30am and 3pm each day\, to minimise the impact on school traffic. \nAccess to businesses and homes will be maintained throughout\, although there will be a diversion for through traffic (details to be confirmed).

SUMMARY:Community Library
DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:Indigo Warriors is a revolutionary activity program for boys and girls aged 5 to 8. It uses proven peak performance coaching techniques that top sports people and business leaders use to develop positive values\, winning attitudes and key life skills. Children attend weekly classes. The classes use a combination of mental and physical development exercises\, peaceful martial arts and games to inspire and motivate. The culmination of the programme is to have developed every child’s confidence\, self esteem\, communication skills and leadership so that they are able to lead a class of 12-15 children\, for 10 minutes\, on their own. \nTaekwon-do brings together power & grace in an exciting and fulfilling martial arts practice. It is a Korean art of unarmed combat for self defence\, physical development\, personal development\, sport\, fun and friendship. It’s roots stretch back over 1\,000 years and with that it has positive philosophical teachings in addition to physical development. It is the most popular martial art in the world practiced by over 80 million people and offers people of differing ages and interests a multitude of benefits. DESCRIPTION:Mark Cooper welcomes children from Years 5 & 6\, aged 9-12 who like a little bit of adventure! \nThe Adventure Club meets most months on the third Friday in Fownhope at The Pavilion 17:45 to 21:00. \nPredominantly based outdoors\, Mark’s Adventure Club aims to introduce a variety of activities that are both stimulating as well as fun. Example of past activities include fish gutting/cooking\, building a ten foot high catapult\, overnight camp in the local woods\, archery\, indoor climbing\, building lanterns and going on a bat detecting walk. \n“We focus on traditional outdoor messy and muddy fun!” says Mark. \nAdult volunteers welcome! \n£5 per session.
