SUMMARY:Community Library
DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

SUMMARY:Community Folk Choir
DESCRIPTION:Come along and join us – everyone is welcome. The Fownhope Community Folk Choir meets seasonally\, with song sharing in the spring\, summer\, autumn and winter – including some fun with Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather) and ‘Village Carols’ from the Sheffield tradition in the run up to Christmas. \nThese are short burst choirs of 4 weeks at a time\, with a focus on seasonal and local traditional songs – as well as rounds and simple warm up songs from the global folk tradition. \nThis is an opportunity to sing for pleasure in a relaxed & friendly group atmosphere – singing for the love of singing – and for enjoyment of folk song and community. \nAll songs will be taught by ear\, and no experience is necessary. All voices are welcome\, there is no audition\, and no-one will be asked to sing on their own. No music reading is required. \nLast year with the Fownhope Community Folk Choir favourites from the Spring season included Bushes and Briars\, The Lark in the Morning\, Leaves of Life\, Drive the Cold Winter Away\, Pace Egging\, Hal An Tow\, as well as many short songs and shanties to warm us up.  \nWe are likely to be repeating some of these songs\, and probably bringing one or two new ones in to the mix \nJoin us on Thursday 6th\, 13th\, 20th and 27th from 7 – 8.30pm at the Fownhope Pavilion\, Fownhope\, HR1 4PE. \nCost: we invite donations of £5 per session. \nEmail kate@aluladown.uk for more details or to book a place.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:Join our friendly and active group as we carry out conservation work in local nature reserves. \nIt’s always a good day in the woods 🙂 \nOver this winter and spring we will be working in a new compartment in Lea & Paget’s Wood: coppicing\, felling\, tree planting and fencing. \nCoppicing is an ancient woodland management technique that was once used to ensure a regular supply of timber and firewood. DESCRIPTION:Come along and join us – everyone is welcome. The Fownhope Community Folk Choir meets seasonally\, with song sharing in the spring\, summer\, autumn and winter – including some fun with Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather) and ‘Village Carols’ from the Sheffield tradition in the run up to Christmas. \nThese are short burst choirs of 4 weeks at a time\, with a focus on seasonal and local traditional songs – as well as rounds and simple warm up songs from the global folk tradition. \nThis is an opportunity to sing for pleasure in a relaxed & friendly group atmosphere – singing for the love of singing – and for enjoyment of folk song and community. \nAll songs will be taught by ear\, and no experience is necessary. All voices are welcome\, there is no audition\, and no-one will be asked to sing on their own. SUMMARY:Community Library
DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.
