DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:STOP PRESS!! This week we are very happy that we will be singing at COO CORNER before going along to the New Inn. So come and join us for carols at Coo Corner from 3.30 – 4ish and at the New Inn from 4.15 – 5ish. Join us for some village carol singing! \nThere is a tradition that started in the villages around Sheffield for people to meet in a local pub in the run up to Christmas and have fun singing Christmas folk carols – the ‘Village Carols’. \nWith support from the Fownhope Community Folk Choir\, we’ll be singing some traditional Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather and Ralph Vaughan Williams). As well as a few favourites from the Sheffield ‘Village Carol’ collection – and lots of your best loved Christmas traditional carols. \nAll the family and all ages welcome! \n  \nWe will also have a quick warm up / some song learning for anyone who is interested at the Fownhope Pavillion from 2 – 3pm in the afternoon before the pub carolling. \nIf you would like to join the Fownhope Community Folk Choir sessions at the Pavilion – or for any more information about the Village Carols – please email kate@aluladown.uk \nFor the sessions at the Pavilion we usually ask for a small donation of around £5 per session towards costs. \n  \nAnd for the pub Village Carols just come along – song sheets will be provided at the pub so that everyone can easily join in.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for some village carol singing! \nThere is a tradition that started in the villages around Sheffield for people to meet in a local pub in the run up to Christmas and have fun singing Christmas folk carols – the ‘Village Carols’. \nWith support from the Fownhope Community Folk Choir\, we’ll be singing some traditional Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather and Ralph Vaughan Williams). As well as a few favourites from the Sheffield ‘Village Carol’ collection – and lots of your best loved Christmas traditional carols. \nAll the family and all ages welcome! \n  \nWe will also have a quick warm up / some song learning for anyone who is interested at the Fownhope Pavillion from 2 – 3pm in the afternoon before the pub carolling. \nIf you would like to join the Fownhope Community Folk Choir sessions at the Pavilion – or for any more information about the Village Carols – please email kate@aluladown.uk \nFor the sessions at the Pavilion we usually ask for a small donation of around £5 per session towards costs. \n  \nAnd for the pub Village Carols just come along – song sheets will be provided at the pub so that everyone can easily join in.

SUMMARY:A Day in the Woods
DESCRIPTION:Join our friendly and active group as we carry out conservation work in local nature reserves. \nIt’s always a good day in the woods 🙂 \nOver this winter and spring we will be working in a new compartment in Lea & Paget’s Wood: coppicing\, felling\, tree planting and fencing. \nCoppicing is an ancient woodland management technique that was once used to ensure a regular supply of timber and firewood.
