DESCRIPTION:Fownhope Seasonal Community Folk Choir – Winter Songs. \nOne of a series of seasonal community choirs through the year\, with song sharing in the spring\, summer\, autumn and winter. \n  \nJoin us to learn some of the Herefordshire Carols collected locally by Ella Mary Leather and Ralph Vaughan Williams\, and some of the carols that are part of the Sheffield Village Carol tradition. \nThis is in preparation for three Sunday afternoons of pub carolling in Fownhope through December – or just come along to these two November sessions because you would like to learn the songs and enjoy some singing. \nAll songs will be taught by ear\, and no experience is necessary. All voices are welcome\, there is no audition\, and no-one will be asked to sing on their own. No music reading is required. \n  \nTo book a place – or for any more information about the Village Carols – please email kate@aluladown.uk \nFor the sessions at the Pavilion we usually ask for a small donation of around £5 per session towards costs.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:Indigo Warriors is a revolutionary activity program for boys and girls aged 5 to 8. It uses proven peak performance coaching techniques that top sports people and business leaders use to develop positive values\, winning attitudes and key life skills. Children attend weekly classes. The classes use a combination of mental and physical development exercises\, peaceful martial arts and games to inspire and motivate. The culmination of the programme is to have developed every child’s confidence\, self esteem\, communication skills and leadership so that they are able to lead a class of 12-15 children\, for 10 minutes\, on their own. \nTaekwon-do brings together power & grace in an exciting and fulfilling martial arts practice. It is a Korean art of unarmed combat for self defence\, physical development\, personal development\, sport\, fun and friendship. It’s roots stretch back over 1\,000 years and with that it has positive philosophical teachings in addition to physical development. It is the most popular martial art in the world practiced by over 80 million people and offers people of differing ages and interests a multitude of benefits. DESCRIPTION:Join us for some village carol singing! \nThere is a tradition that started in the villages around Sheffield for people to meet in a local pub in the run up to Christmas and have fun singing Christmas folk carols – the ‘Village Carols’. \nWith support from the Fownhope Community Folk Choir\, we’ll be singing some traditional Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather and Ralph Vaughan Williams). As well as a few favourites from the Sheffield ‘Village Carol’ collection – and lots of your best loved Christmas traditional carols. \nAll the family and all ages welcome! \n  \nWe will also have a quick warm up / some song learning for anyone who is interested at the Fownhope Pavillion from 2 – 3pm in the afternoon before the pub carolling. \nIf you would like to join the Fownhope Community Folk Choir sessions at the Pavilion – or for any more information about the Village Carols – please email kate@aluladown.uk \nFor the sessions at the Pavilion we usually ask for a small donation of around £5 per session towards costs. \n  \nAnd for the pub Village Carols just come along – song sheets will be provided at the pub so that everyone can easily join in.
