DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

DESCRIPTION:Our exciting New Spring Programme 2026 starts here…\nPysanky Ukrainian Egg Decorating Workshop. \nThis workshop will be run by artists Helena Orlowski and Nataliya Cummings and will include an introduction to the Ukrainian Pysanky tradition and an explanation of other ways of making the traditional Pysanky egg. This is an opportunity to spend the morning in a calm and friendly atmosphere and make a traditional wax-resist Ukrainian Easter Egg – but this time etched with vinegar. You will be able to complete two eggs using two different techniques during this session. DESCRIPTION:Fownhope Seasonal Community Folk Choir – Spring Songs. \nA series of seasonal community choirs that take place through the year\, with song sharing in the spring\, summer\, autumn and winter. \nThese are short burst choirs of 4 weeks at a time\, with a focus on seasonal and local traditional songs – as well as rounds and simple warm up songs from the global folk tradition. \nThis is an opportunity to sing for pleasure in a relaxed & friendly group atmosphere – singing for the love of singing – and for enjoyment of folk song and community. \nAll songs will be taught by ear\, and no experience is necessary. SUMMARY:Community Library
DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.
