DESCRIPTION:The Village Lunch runs throughout the year apart from January and August. \nIt is open to all but be sure to book by the Sunday before\, at the latest. \nAll dietary needs accommodated including vegetarian\, diabetes etc so please inform us on booking. \nTwo course meal followed by tea and coffee\, all for £8.00. \nBooking is essential by signing up on the list on the Faulkner House notice board in the library area\, or by contacting Dorothy Quayle by phone on 860221.  Do leave a message if needed – we will respond. \nAll booked meals MUST be paid for. \nAny changes and cancellations must be made by the Sunday before the event. \nThis event is supported by Compassionate Communities and some kind volunteers. \nMore volunteers are needed to ensure this important social event keeps running.

DESCRIPTION:Fownhope Seasonal Community Folk Choir – Winter Songs. \nOne of a series of seasonal community choirs through the year\, with song sharing in the spring\, summer\, autumn and winter. \n  \nJoin us to learn some of the Herefordshire Carols collected locally by Ella Mary Leather and Ralph Vaughan Williams\, and some of the carols that are part of the Sheffield Village Carol tradition. \nThis is in preparation for three Sunday afternoons of pub carolling in Fownhope through December – or just come along to these two November sessions because you would like to learn the songs and enjoy some singing. \nAll songs will be taught by ear\, and no experience is necessary. All voices are welcome\, there is no audition\, and no-one will be asked to sing on their own. No music reading is required. \n  \nTo book a place – or for any more information about the Village Carols – please email kate@aluladown.uk \nFor the sessions at the Pavilion we usually ask for a small donation of around £5 per session towards costs.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Library was opened in 2012\, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. \nIt is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. \nThere is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction\, and a strong section on local history\, travel and walking books/OS maps. \nWith over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books\, there is something for everyone. \nWe have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. \nAll residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team\, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.
